Taming Defense Pets Hub
Taming, commands, hotbar slots, and stage-by-stage pet picks for day exploration and night defense.
Magical beasts are your second line of defense in Taming Defense after the walls you place during daylight. BaseBuddies built the Roblox experience around pet taming, base building, and night defense—bond creatures in the wild, bring them home, then command them when monsters rise after sunset. The 365-day survival goal and The Lich hunting from Day 20 onward mean pet choices are not cosmetic. A tame that ignores Guard duty can cost more than a missing wall segment.
This Pets Hub centralizes everything about companions: how to open the pet menu, which keys control behavior, how hotbar slots 1–6 work, and which roles matter at each survival stage. Pair these pages with the Pet Tier List and Build Tier List when you invest Gold or Ruby.
Core pet loop
- Explore by day — leave your base, find wild magical creatures, and begin taming using the steps in How to Tame Pets.
- Manage roster — open the pet menu with G, review stats, feed with Gold, and assign hotbar slots.
- Command at night — use V, Q, T, U, and Z plus number keys to coordinate Follow, Attack, Guard, and Stay.
- Adapt by stage — replace early learning pets before Day 20 using Best Pets by Stage.
Night fights reward pets that match defined roles—Tank Beast, Glass DPS, Support Healer, Night Scout, AoE Cleaver, and Guard Sentinel—even if individual species names change in updates.

Pet Commands
Complete keybind reference for Select All Pets (V), Follow (Q), Attack (T), Guard (U), Stay (Z), and slots 1–6. Includes when to use each command during wall holds, kiting, and Lich nights. Read this before blaming a pet for losing a night—most early losses are command timing, not rarity.
Best Pets by Stage
Stage-based recommendations from Days 1–7 through Day 20+ and late marathon nights. Explains which archetypes to tame first, when to spend Ruby, and how co-op shifts priorities.
Currency and pets
Gold feeds everyday upkeep—food, basic gear, and low-tier tame attempts. Ruby buys premium creatures or accelerators you want to keep past mid-game. Claim Codes before shopping so free currency does not sit unused while you struggle on Night 5.
Do not chase every wild spawn. Cap daytime exploration so you return with materials to repair walls before darkness. Pets help only if they are fed, slotted, and stationed when the wave timer starts.
Pairing pets with your base
Pets and walls solve different problems. Walls funnel enemies; pets delete them. A Guard Sentinel without a choke wastes DPS on running between gaps. An AoE Cleaver without funnel geometry hits one target at a time. Cross-read Build Tier List when adding a new tame to your roster.

Co-op notes
Taming Defense supports online co-op. One player can babysit pets with V and lane commands while another rotates build pieces with M1 and R. Support and scout roles gain value when teammates split jobs—see tier notes on the Pet Tier List.
What we avoid here
This hub does not promote exploit scripts or automation tools. Scripts Hub explains why verified public scripts for this game are not available and what legitimate alternatives exist.

Treat pets like loadout slots, not collectibles. One disciplined tame on Guard beats three unruly followers chasing the horizon.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do I open the pet menu in Taming Defense?
Press G to open the Pet Menu. From there you can review tamed creatures, manage slots, and prepare feeds before nightfall.
What are the main pet command keys?
V selects all pets, Q is Follow, T is Attack, U is Guard, and Z is Stay. Keys 1–6 select individual pet slots or linked skills on your hotbar.
When should I replace my starter pet?
Replace learning-tier tames before Day 20 or when you lose two nights with the same roster. Use Best Pets by Stage and the pet tier list for role targets.
Are pets more important than walls?
Both matter. Walls funnel damage; pets clear enemies. Invest in basic choke geometry first, then add Guard Sentinel or Tank Beast roles behind it.
